Overview of ITR-2
ITR 2 is an Income Tax Return form designed for a certain group of taxpayers, namely individuals and HUFs who do not have any business or professional income. There are a few more conditions that must be met in order to file an ITR 2. We’ll talk about them.
Who can file ITR-2
Individuals and HUFs (both residents and non-residents) can utilise Form ITR-2 to file their income tax returns if they have the following sources of income:
More than one House Property Income
Income from Capital Gain
Having Foreign Assets/ Income
Having Agriculture Income more than Rs.5000
Who can not file ITR-2
Form ITR-2 cannot be filed in the following cases:
If Income exceeds Rs. 50 lacs
- If a farmer’s income reaches Rs. 5,000, he or she is considered wealthy.
If there is income from business or profession
If there is any Capital Gain Income
If there is income from more than one house property
If an individual is a Director of a company
If there is any Investment in unlisted equity shares
If an individual owns assets or has financial interest outside India or is the signing authority of an account located outside India.
If a person is an NRI (not ordinarily resident)
